SilverCloud is an online platform that offers you secure access to mental health support.

The flexible programmes are designed to teach you techniques to help overcome low mood, anxiety and stress.

You can access SilverCloud any time, any where on your computer, tablet or phone. There is no need to attend set appointments which can be difficult to find time for.

SilverCloud is based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which is an effective way of learning about thoughts, feelings and behaviours – and how they influence each other.

It has been clinical tested and demonstrates high improvement rates for mood, anxiety and stress.

What is SilverCloud?

SilverCloud is an online self-help programme using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) based techniques. Over 15 years of clinical research on internet delivered therapeutic interventions has gone into the development of SilverCloud.  It is secure, anonymous and interactive platform to help you manage the feelings and causes of depression, anxiety or stress. 

CBT looks at how our thoughts, feelings and behaviours all interact with one another for instance what we think and do affects the way we feel.  CBT therefore allows you to become more aware of how you are feeling and helps you to understand why you might be feeling a certain way and teaches you how to make the changes you need, to feel better.

This programme will teach you more about CBT and will offer many activities to help you make practical changes to your mood. Although, CBT recognises that you are the expert on your own life and experiences, so the tools and strategies in this programme have been designed to be used in whatever way works best for you.

You work through a series of topics selected by a therapist to address specific needs. It can be accessed anytime, anywhere so is designed to be completed in your own time and at your own pace.

This service can be supported or unsupported, and is available via phone, tablet or computer and consists of a number of self-help modules.  

 

How does SilverCloud work?

SilverCloud is comprised of over 30 evidence-based behavioural health programs for individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, and stress, as well as long-term conditions, including coronary heart disease, diabetes, lung conditions and chronic pain.

You will have access to a range of treatment modules through the SilverCloud programme which you can complete at your own pace. This can either be supported by one of our Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners who will review your progress, or you can utilise this service unsupported, completing it independently.

Firstly, in order to determine the programme, which is most suitable for your needs, you will be offered a telephone appointment to discuss the programme that is going to be most relevant to you and answer any questions you may have.

During your initial telephone appointment, you will have a conversation to discuss your needs and what you would like to focus on. You can then agree on a programme that would be most appropriate for you and your goals.

Once you are enrolled onto our SilverCloud programme you will be sent a link via e-mail which will be active for 14 days to sign into SilverCloud. After this time the link will expire so, please ensure to check your junk if it the link doesn’t appear in your inbox.
Once you have signed into SilverCloud you will have access to the materials for 12 months. We would encourage you to continue to access the programme during this period to help you to continue to practice your new skills. The modules consist of a mixture of quizzes, videos and journals which can be tailored to your own needs.

Each programme consists of 7-8 core modules, and it is recommended for you to complete one module per week, each module takes about 40 minutes to complete. During the week you should log onto the programme and complete the activities the programme sets you to do.

If you are receiving support SilverCloud your therapist will monitor and review your progress, provide feedback and guidance, and will encourage you supporting your journey through the programme. You will usually receive 4-6 reviews depending on the progress you are making.

Reviews will usually happen either weekly or fortnightly to give you a chance to practice the skills you have learnt, and these will be conducted via email. Your therapist will set the time aside for your review so please try to make sure you have used the programme.

What are the benefits of SilverCloud?

You can use the SilverCloud programme entirely at your own pace to fit into your day.

SilverCloud enables people to access the same quality therapy online, as they would meeting with a therapist face to face. Evidence shows SilverCloud is as successful as face-to-face therapy and is even more effective when being supported by a therapist. 

Research conducting follow-up studies have shown the positive outcomes of computerised CBT have been sustained post treatment.  It is empowering, when accessing computerised CBT, it can give you an increase sense of control as you are taking ownership of your therapy.
